Nemea (former name Agios Georgios) is a small town in the prefecture of Corinthia and is the capital of the municipality of Nemea. It is located in a contented area with thousands of acres of vineyards and rich archaeological interest.
The wider area of Nemea is the largest wine-growing zone in Greece, where the famous wines of Designation of Origin of Superior Quality ( O.P.A.P. ) are produced. The area has been famous for its wine since ancient times, when it was called Fliasion Pedion.

B. Ancient Nemea is a semi-mountainous village in the prefecture of Corinthia, belonging to the Municipality of Nemea of the Peloponnese Region. It is a city of ancient times, known from the mythical lion, killed by Hercules. The ruins of the temple of Nemiou Zeus, of which only nine columns and the vertebrae of some others survive, are located a very short distance from the present village of Ancient Nemea. The wines of Nemea produced in the area are also famous.
